BOUCHER FREIGHT CARS

Boucher freight cars follow as usual perfection in design as well as ruggedness in construction. Carefully built of wood and metal with solid cast wheels they typify the finest that can be bought.

BOUCHER ELECTRIC MOTOR

The motor used in Boucher locomotive is of our own design and manufacture – embodying many features which put it in a class by itself. It has double field coils, ample bearings, self oiling armature shaft, self aligning brushes and will give long and satisfactory service.

Boucher motors are powerful and efficient, they have a quick “pick up” with no “dead center” on starting.

 A. GEARS - The gears are of heavy bronze, machine cut with long bearings. These gears transmit power with the slightest possible amount of loss.

B. FIELD - The field laminations require a fine grade of iron to maintain efficiency and lightness. We use the best that can be secured in this country.

C. DOUBLE FIELD COILS - The double field coils are wound with a heavy insulated wire. The use of two fields instead of one insures a quick “getaway” and an even supply of power.

D. BRUSHES - The brushes made of Morganite Carbon – the best obtainable – are self aligning, easily replaced and as they are square, insure a broad contact without acting as a “brake” on the motor.

E. COMMUTATOR - The commutator is made of the finest grade of material, well insulated, oil proof and easily accessible for cleaning.

F. ARMATURE BEARINGS - A steel shaft with long bronze bearings and an efficient oiling system to insure durability.

G. ARMATURE - The armature is beautifully balanced for smooth running, windings of heavy insulated wire and not subject to “shorting”.

H. BEARING PLATES - These are made of heavy bronze, nickle plated. They contain brush holders and insure alignment of armature in the fields.

Blow Torch

The Boucher Blow Torch is an efficient, dependable, light weight heating device. Designed especially for use with Boucher steam plants. Burns gasoline and delivers a steady flame. All parts easily accessible for cleaning. Blow Torch with pump, complete, $6.00

These highly developed boilers give a surprising amount of steam for their size. Fired by our Blow-torch, they will generate 80 lbs. pressure from cold water in a few minutes. Suitable for all Boucher Engines and for boats from 36” to 60” long.

Specifications  - Shell and flue – seamless drawn brass tube. Dome – spun brass riveted to shell. Water tubes, copper, 5 ¼”, hair pin shape, brazed to flue. Combination safety valve and filler, water gauge and steam gauge. Made in two sizes.

MINIATURE STEAM ENGINES

Boucher miniature steam engines are more than just toys, they are built to U. S. Standards and of proper material (see specifications). The taking down and reassembling of a complete engine or putting together a machined casting set imparts quickly and accurately, knowledge of the fundamentals of Mechanics. For those who have access to a lathe and drill press, we supply rough casting sets but with crankshaft machined and finished screws, nuts, bolts, etc., Two Cylinders, High Speed Racing Marine Engine S-62, Suitable for boats up to 40” long. A light weight, powerful, racing engine – trunk piston type with very low center of gravity. Will give 3500 revolutions per minute on less than 75 lbs. steam pressure.

Specifications: - Cylinders, base and steam chest – magnalite. Cylinders cover and flywheel – fine gray cast iron. Crankshaft and eccentric – machine steel; other parts bronze alloy.

HIGH SPEED MARINE RACING ENGINE No. S-64

Suitable for boats up to 50” long. Identical to engine No. S-62 shown on opposite page but with four cylinders and twice the power. The fastest and most powerful engine of its size and weight made. DOUBLE ACTING SLIDE VALVE ENGINE NO. D-81

Single Cylinder Marine or Stationary Type, Suitable for boats up to 45” long. This type of engine is used in many branches of industry because of its economy in steam consumption and dependability.

Specifications: - Cylinder, piston, frame, steam chest, slide valve and connecting rod – best bronze castings. Crankshaft-steel, fly wheel–gray cast iron.  Runs at high speed on steam pressure up to 100 lbs.
